Burn Out Blues

You know when you've been so busy that you don't catch a break for multiple days and you feel like you're going to lose your mind? Burnout is on the horizon and doing one more task feels like the end of the world. I hate that feeling but it's all I'm familiar with now.

There isn't much I've found to cope with this to be brutally honest. You have to prioritize your life and include all the aspects that are most important first.

When I feel burned out, I start shutting down. The idea of doing anything is so tough and I feel defeated. Taking breaks helps sometimes, changing the atmosphere, or even showering helps in those moments.

Sometimes I choose to turn in homework late to enjoy time with my boyfriend when I haven't had any time away from my job or vice versa. My mental health will never be worth any job or assignment.

Reminding yourself that you have to come first is crucial during a burnout episode. The burnout will only get worse if you don't take the time to take care of yourself.

Life will never be the perfect scenario. There will always be something that is making you stressed or feel bogged down. We have lost sight of the idea that life is for living, not slaving away and being stressed about every arbitrary thing.

It’s important to acknowledge that we can’t perform to the highest standard if we aren’t maintaining a good healthy lifestyle. It shouldn’t be admired to work 80-hour weeks or never take a day of vacation.

There’s not anything to actually stop the burnout or busy life. The way to combat it best is to take time for yourself when necessary. It doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture or break or something.

Taking time to write gratitude, go for a walk, or spend time with your loved ones are great ways to get out of a bad headspace. No matter what it is, what matters is you take the time to relax and not lose your mind over all the chaos around you.
